Premiere entertainment destination, TopGolf, with multiple levels of tech-enhanced driving range bays opened in April 2021 in north San Jose, Calif. The popular chain has nearly 70 locations around the world but this is its first location in the San Francisco Bay Area.
When designing the new location, TopGolf took efforts to go green: the building is LEED-certified, has built-in solar panels and features GlasPro Bird Safe glass windows to protect migrating birds from flying into the building.
Pacific Glazing Contractors (Morgan Hill, Calif.) called upon GlasPro to fabricate 35 lites of 3/8” high performance SNX 51/23 insulated glass with Bird Safe Ultraviolet Reflective and a layer of ¼” clear tempered glass. The large lites of GlasPro Bird Safe Ultraviolet Reflective glass grace the main TopGolf building’s façade — above and adjacent to the front door entrance.
The bird-friendly glass prevents bird collisions while being highly-transparent to the human eye. With an American Bird Conservancy – Avoidance Index of 79 percent, GlasPro Ultraviolet Reflective glass significantly exceeds the ABC’s minimum standard for effective bird collision deterrent materials of 70 percent. Under sunny conditions, the product’s Avoidance Index is 84 percent which is considered highly-effective. The SNX 51/23 coated glass with its high light transmission can help meet stringent energy codes, enhance daylighting and help reduce air conditioning demands.
