The Phoenix Sky Harbor is Arizona’s premier air traffic control tower, which began operations at midnight on Sunday, January 14, 2007. It is currently the world’s fifth tallest control tower standing at 326 feet high, after Atlanta, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Munich.
The massive laminated units created by GlasPro measure 110″ x 172″ and are constructed utilizing 1″ laminated Starphire glass. These units had to meet very strict optical tolerances set forth by the FAA. Due to the massive size and weight, each unit was set in place using a helicopter.
