The Dungeness River Nature Center, formerly known as the Dungeness River Audubon Center, completed an ambitious 5,000-square-foot building expansion and remodel to better serve the Sequim community. The improvements make the building five times larger than the original, creating more space for education, offices, and community meetings.
The Nature Center features over 1,600 square feet of GlasPro Bird Safe UV glass to help prevent bird strikes with windows throughout the building. Ninety-five lites of bird-friendly glass on the remodeled and newly-expanded building serve to not only minimize bird collisions but also maintain the human visual experience.
The facility includes a 150-person meeting room, small conference room, exhibit room, new office, gift shop, commercial catering kitchen, wildlife viewing room, atrium, and patio. The S’Klallam Tribe, bought the land when it became available to expand the River Center facilities. After five years of a capital campaign that raised more than $5 million, the River Center opened in June 2022.
