Comments from Andrew Haring, VP of Business Development, NGA
“Design limitations dang-near nonexistent, and color combinations and options galore over at GlasPro. I spent the afternoon with industry long-hauler Joe Green for a peek behind the curtain at a west coast glass fabrication institution. In fact, the current building was always intended for a glass company. Built-in 1968, it housed one of, if not the first tempering oven on the west coast. It’d see a couple companies and iterations pass through before Joe turned it into the designer’s playground it is today.
Now, be it antique mirror, ballistic, back-painted, lami, reeded/fluted, digitally printed, silk-screened, I.G., or the five million variations of colored glass, Joe doesn’t like to say ‘no’ too often. In fact, yours truly has been given the honor of naming a color… pretty dang pumped about that. Any thoughts? I’m torn between “Glass Nerd Blue,” “L.A. Skyline Greige,” and “Yellow Snow.” Now taking suggestions/votes.
While the custom capabilities are impressive, their BIRD SAFE ultraviolet reflective bird-friendly glass just might be the coolest thing I saw on my field trip. No obnoxious frits or distracting, conspicuous patterns… this stuff is optically transparent and passes muster in testing. So much opportunity in this sector, which is probably why GlasPro just signed up as NGA members to join our Bird-Friendly task group on our Fabricating Committee.
Maybe becoming a member is something you should consider, too….
Thank you Joe, Stephanie Aldrete and Kendal Rowe for the warm hospitality and killer tour, Syndi Sim and I had a blast. Looking forward to seeing ya at #BEC.”
